TJ Class of '68     UPDATE                                                                          10/10/06

Oct. 10, 2006
Good morning friends,
I have a few days off to relax while Murphy is in Colorado elk hunting with his friend, Jud Hollingsworth (class of 66).  Jud has been living in Lake City since 1980.  It is a most beautiful valley area near Gunnison.  It would have been nice to go along with him at least to enjoy the scenery.  But, as many of you know, our elderly parents need some extra care and attention at this time of their life.  It was just too soon to leave again after being away 11 days on our Canadian trip.  Now to the good stuff:

As for as my family goes, we have been blessed. Sheila and I will be married 10 years in Feb. We have 3 grown sons and 2 precious daughter-in-laws and 2 bad ass grandsons and a sweet little baby granddaughter on the way (Feb 07). Sheila and I are still living in Conroe and hopefully, we will die there. I'm still selling Heavy Construction Equip (26 years) and life has been good. Sheila retired from teaching 35 years but went back to work as a Sec.(Middle School) to stay busy. Other than losing Mom last Jan. and Dad's health, our world is rockin. God bless the Class of '68 and I can't wait for the next reunion. We'll be there, with bells on. Love you all

I am scheduled for the robotic laprascopic radical prostratectomy on November 1st at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.  It is about and hour and a half from my house in Decatur, AL.  I go Oct. 10  for the pre-op workup.  The biopsy results found cancer in 1 of ten cores taken with 40% in the one core.  The Gleason score is 3 + 3 for a total of 6 which is in the intermediate range of aggressiveness of the cancer.  I know that Murphy has been through it so you know very well what I am facing.  Thanks for asking and I will update you after the surgery. (Our prayers are with you and your family during this time, Billy)

from Nancy Decker Primeaux
Thanks so much for the info.  I really do enjoy reading about all of our friends.  When we moved, I lost your email address.  So I am thrilled that you got me back in the loop. We really do enjoy Kerrville.  Our son lives in Fredericksburg, and has just opened a nice club on main street.  Getting to meet people there (called Primeaux's)  :), seeing our grandson every week and our son...well all things are just grand.. The site is just wonderful.  I love it.

Well, here's a little bit of info about me.  My husband Clint and I live in Port Acres.  He works for ExxonMobil and I have a sewing machine repair shop in Groves.  I've been repairing machines for 18 years now.  Hard to believe that a "woman" can do something like that.  I have no children but Clint has two, ages 20 and 21.  They are grown and gone.  We love riding our Harley and go to the Hill Country often.

from Danny Morehead
I just wanted to give you my current info. I saw my old friend David Elliott last week and he sent me the website link. I hope everything is going well for you. Please keep me informed. (check out Danny at www.diamondtrade.com  He is the president)

from Janette Light Norton
I'm home under the weather today---although the weather is glorious.  Most people have no idea how wonderful the panhandle weather is 340 days a year--it's not like west Texas or the mountains.  Just big blue skies and sunshine.  Few bugs know how to find this place, so we enjoy that, too.  Peggy Foster hates for me to talk about it----you would have to see it to believe it.  (Okay Jeanette.  Murphy and I might just show up on your door step one day  to "check out" this glorious weather you talk about!!)

HEARD FROM:
I also heard from John Wilson, Linda Blakley Rindlishbacher, Gilsey Viator Campion, Florence "Sissie" Woods Cox, Jane Lippincott Koerth, Jody Hopkins Barbin, Lynn Eldridge Gill (news that her daughter is having her first baby), Arlene Lang Hulin, Mike Soileau, Janice Hebert Boudreaux, Dianna Caillier Lewis, Susan Hatfield Miguez, Debbie Borres Desmond, Lana Weber Guidry,  & Carole Oubre Reeves. Danny Landry and his wife Phyllis stopped by to visit while running an errand in Bridge City.  Murphy and I also attended the "FAT BOY'S PIG ROAST" in Bridge City held at Johnny "Pookie" Montagne's home.

(Don't forget to check out where all these classmates live on our website under the link CLASSMATE LISTING.)

WEBSITE NEWS  www.tjhs1968.125mb.com
A lot of work and many hours have been spent on updating and fine tuning the class website since the last UPDATE I wrote on Sept. 24.  Mike, Beverly Copeland Gaspard, and I talk sometimes daily trying to get this "baby" moving along.  Right now, we are trying to get it to a paid website and will then have a new website address to send to you when it happens. Mike is also re-designing the pages when it does change over.  I think you all will be thrilled.   I have gone over the e-mails since last summer and have come up with a list of classmates that have offered contributions when we do go to the paid website.  Check over the list and see if I have added or left off your name by mistake.  You may also contact me if you offered and have changed your mind due to circumstances.  Remember, any contribution amount will help.

Previously Offered Contributions:
Janette Light Norton
Billy Jordan
Lynn Eldridge
Ron Waedemon & Betty Bernauer Waedemon
Janis Hamilton Lee
Linda Blakley Rindlishbacher
Ernie Casteneda Bullion
Glenda Patin
Carmen Babin Hardy
Fred McCarty

Be sure to check out the CLASS PHOTOS link & GROUP PHOTOS links.
Sharon Gary Peters, Carmen Babin Hardy, and Linda Blakley Rindlishbacher have sent in photos. Thanks gals.  This is what Mike and I wanted to happen.  So, the rest of you need to check in the closets for more photos to add.  Also, check out the BULLETIN BOARD link for info on Larry's French Mkt.'s second annual TJ/BB/PNG bash.  Don't forget the CRUISE mentioned there.  A newspaper article is now in the 10 YEAR REUNION link.  Check it out.

***MILITARY LINK ADDED***:
We are very excited to have a place to honor all of you from our class (and your children) that have served or are still serving in the Armed Forces.  Please notice the new link on the home page.  Please send in any photos and a brief history telling us about the military experiences.  Veterans' Day is Nov. 11 and this is a great opportunity to showcase our own.  Mike and I hope that you like it.  We haven't noticed any other class websites that have this.  So, let's be the BEST for the others to follow.  Let the mailing (and e-mailing) begin.  Don't be shy!

WEBSITE COMMENTS:
from Tommy Thompson
The site is great. We need to get everyone more involved in updating status and pictures. I get a kick out of hearing what everyone is doing and just love the pictures.

from Carmen Babin Hardy
Just wanted you to know how much I enjoy the web site.  It's great to see how we have all aged so gracefully.  I think it's a great idea if everyone would send a picture of themselves. I sent Mike a picture of me.  At least this picture looks a little better than the one in school.  They could have voted me "Nerdqueen of T.J. Class of 1968".  I can't believe my mother let me out of the house looking like that!

from Laura Meece Darby
Mike, love what you have done with the new website!  It is totally awesome!  I really enjoyed looking through the pictures of old classmates and am looking forward to checking in every day to see what's been added.  I will have to see if I can find more pictures to add!  Keep up the great work!

from Marty Upton Colletti (class of 64)
(Marty is the webmaster for her class.  Beverly is having her check out our site to see if it is ready to go to a paid site.  Check out her site(class of 64) listed on our home page under WEBSITES OF INTEREST.)
It’s awesome!!  Ya’ll have done a fantastic job.  You even have my brother’s email address!  My brother is John Upton. I think it’s ready for prime time.)

from Jeanette Light Norton
(This is her response after my plea for photos from her previous "YA YA" get-together with Liz Tieskins and Peggy Foster.  I know that many of you (especially the girls) will relate to her 'dilemma'.)
Now, Linda, for me to send pictures I would have to get my pictures developed or learn how to download.:-)  Give me a few days.  I'm sure the sights in the pictures will be beautiful, but we didn't plan to let anyone see us.  In our hearts we were 17 and when we look at the pictures we'll see we're not, so none of us have rushed to have them developed.    I have loved the photos that you have shared.  You might talk Loretta and Glenn to send pictures of their cruise.

Tommy Thompson, Gary Hammond, and Laura Meece Darby just sent us some great photos.  They are not on our website as of yet, but will be shortly.  I will send all of you a notice when they are "published".  Thanks to you three for taking the time to contribute to the success of our website!  You're the best.

Well, this means that this UPDATE is completed and my MAILBOX on my computer is empty.  So, now it is your turn to contact me with more UPDATE news and photos and just about ANY THING ELSE you might want to have included in your website.  I have had a suggestion about
A PET link.  We have also heard a suggestion about a GRANDKIDS link (that would include GrandPets). Any takers?  Send me your thoughts on that.  Until the next time.....
Stay safe and keep in touch,
