I didn't actually get my "normal" mail for the MAIL CALL this time but this NEWSLETTER will have a few items that I hope may be interesting to you.

LOVE BUGS
(love them or hate them)
Lovebugs are small black flies with red thoraxes.  They are members of the family Bibionidae.  Several species of this family are native to the southeast, but "lovebugs, Piecia Nearctica, are relatively recent invaders from the west.

Southern Louisiana experienced flights of lovebugs during the 1920's.  First reports of their presence in Florida were made in 1947 from Escambia County.  Since that time, flights have progressively moved southward.  In 1974, specimens were collected in the Homestead area of south Florida.  Lovebugs also have moved northward and infest parts of all states bordering the Gulf of Mexico, as well as Georgia and South Carolina.

Two flights of lovebugs occur each year.  The spring flight occurs during late April and May, with a second flight during late August and September.  Flights extend over a period of 4 to 5 weeks but individual adults live only 2-3 days.  Mating takes place almost immediately after emergence.

Female lovebugs lay from 100-350 eggs.  Larvae (immature stages) feed on decaying plant material.  After larvae mature, they pupate at the soil surface.

(Now, you feel sad when they HIT your car and make a mess?  Sure you do!)

VIEWING the movie "The HELP"
( a note from Fred McCarty)
Several TJ classmates met in Beaumont to view the movie THE HELP and afterwards enjoyed a great meal (Mexican food, of course).  Attending were Janette Light and husband, Richard Norton, Charlotte Etheredge (Jack's wife) and their daughter, Brittani Sauer, Mike Harmon, Jane Lippincott and husband, Kent Koerth and me and my wife, Sandy.  Everyone had read the book and thoroughly enjoyed the movie.  The movie was so great that at the end everyone in the audience applauded, and you don't experience that with very many movies.  We would recommend the movie and book to anyone.  We thank Janette and Mike for doing all the planning for the event.
(Fred and Janette drove in from the Houston area to attend).

HEALTH MESSAGE:
(sent in by Jack Etheredge's wife, Charlotte)
As I was lying on my couch pondering the problems of the WORLD, I rapidly realized that I don't really give a HOOT.  It's the "tortoise" life for me! (Read on...)
1.  If walking/cycling is good for your health, the mail carrier would be immortal.
2.  A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks water and is FAT!
3.  A rabbit runs and hops and only lives 15 years!
4.  A tortoise doesn't run, does nothing....yet lives for 450 years!
AND YOU TELL ME TO EXERCISE!

WEBSITE DONATIONS
Our class has received 4 donation checks from the following classmates to help us pay for the website subscription at GO DADDY:

from Fred McCarty
It is an honor to be a part of this great class, and your and Mike's efforts are much appreciated by all of our classmates and by others from TJ who graduated before or after us.  I hope other classmates will also be able to help by sending their contributions toward the subscription service, but sometimes people forget to respond or may not be able to offer monetary support.

from Lynn Eldridge
Here's a check to help pay for the website.  I don't know how you and Mike are able to keep up with it so faithfully.  Thanks for all your hard work.  I am glad you mentioned the need for donations in your last NEWSLETTER.  I was just thinking the other day that I needed to send a check to help out.  Great minds think alike!

from Mike Harmon
You guys do a great job.  I know we are a special class because ya'll help us to stay in touch with each other.  Money is easy...what you and Mike do day after day is hard work.  Thank for all you do for the TJHS class of '68.

from Cherlyn Hebert
We all appreciate the efforts of you and Mike but tend to forget it takes money to run the site, too.  Thanks for the reminder.

Mike will be paying for the website and purchasing extra "space" to hold all we need to put on it.  NO $$$$$ amount donated is too small.  We deposit it in a checking account just for the website.  Mike and I  are forever grateful.

Donation checks may be made out to me and sent to the following address:

SUPPORT
from Linda Langhoff Wheatley
(taken off of Face Book)
Our vacation is over.  We enjoyed family and friends in Texas.  A few serious health issues are in our family but we have a great support system.

from A.J. Hebert
Cyndy had to have more surgery due to complications from the previous surgery.  She went through the surgery fine and they removed infection areas and fluid.  Hopefully she will be back to feeling better very soon.  Thanks for all the prayers.

(This is about Susan Hatfield and the late Donnie Hollier's granddaughter sent in by Gerald Broussard)
Addison Janelle Fawcett, daughter of Jaime (Hollier) and Brian was born with a rare birth defect known as Tibial Hemimelia.  This only effects 1 in a million babies.  The lower part of Addi's left leg has no tibia (large bone).  She is scheduled for amputation surgery in January when she is 11 months old.  Addi is a very active and normal 7 month old in every way.  Over the next several months we will be scheduling a few fund raisers.  Please keep Addi in your prayers.

(a note from Susan Reagle Duplant)
Prayers are needed for our cousin, Camden.  His grandmother is my age and I use to keep his mom when she was a baby.  He has hodgkins lymphoma.  He has a mass in his chest.  He is in his senior year.  He is on his second round of chemo and lost his hair.  That has hit him pretty hard.  He is such a fighter.
