Folks, this will be a short NEWSLETTER.  I got lazy and didn't contact very many classmates for updated information for the spreadsheet.  Therefore, I didn't get too much from them in return.

MAIL CALL
from Beth Anne Sutherlin Coakley in Bedford, TX
(taken off of Face Book)
I am RETIRED!  No more meetings and long reports and school drama and deadlines and testing and worrying how to solve a problem without stepping on someone's toes or making sure I am keeping ALL the bosses happy!  I am ready to stop working after 40+ years!
(Congratulations Beth Anne.  You deserve the r & r.)

from Gerald "Jerry" Miller in Bacliff, TX
I just went to the website and realized that I haven't been getting any "heads up" emails from you and Mike.  Well, that is my fault.  I have a new e-mail address and neglected to send it to you.

I retired from the Prison system in 2009.  Then, I was hired by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department in 2010.  Now, I work on the Battleship Texas, BB-35 at the San Jacinto Battleground Complex in La Porte, TX.  Being a Navy man, it gives me great pleasure to do maintenance on a 100-year old ship that has a lot of history to tell.  I am planning to stick around here for another 3 years before taking to the road and living in our 5th Wheeler.

Keep up the good work.  You and Mike are doing a great job!
(Thanks for contacting us.  We like our classmates to keep up with our "news".  I am going to come check out the Battleship.  It has been since my JUNIOR HIGH field trip at Woodrow Wilson since I have been!  I think a trip with the granddaughters is in the future.)

from Steve Redick in Orange/BC area
I DID retire but then I went back on contract in January.  I am hoping to retire again soon.  I've just about had enough.  Good hearing from you!  Keep me updated.

from Becky Baker Thomas '69 (Steve's sis and classmate, George Thomas' wife)
I always enjoy the '68 updates.  This last one was special!  I was surprised to see the picture of George and I that was taken on Mother's Day.  Thanks.

from Janette Light Norton in Cypress
Thanks so much for telling about the "mini-reunion" in the last website update.  Richard and I were so sorry to miss it, but you know our hearts were with all of you. Recently, our son graduated as a journeyman electrician.  Since he started 5 years ago, he has married and given us our first granddaughter, Claire.  My daughter, Jennifer, is also marrying this summer, so we've been helping them in the house-hunting process.  They (and we) are hoping for grandchildren right away.  For the first time in almost 10 years and at just the right time, we're all within 30 minutes of each other.  I can sure get some good "rocking time" in now.
(We did miss you and your sweet smiling face at the "reunion".  Next time!  I know you will enjoy the photos that classmates sent in from that event!)

Soooo snakes!  Bull snakes are brown, no teeth, but aggressive!  They are constrictors and imitate rattlers without having rattles.  They merely beat their tail on the ground which sounds like a rattle.  Our dude of late was hanging inside a 4" pvc pipe so when he did the "tail" thing it echoed and sounded huge!  That did nothing to enhance our inner calm.  We got our local "snake charmer" to come and pick it up.  It was the first time to see a snake since I got here 14 years ago.
(Mike Harmon told her to move to Costa Rica!  It has over 130 different snake species that call Costa Rica home!  That's our Mike for ya'!)

NEWS FROM THE HOMEFRONT
My sister is doing well!  Praise the Lord.  She has been more on the hyper side of her manic-depressive disorder but doing well.  My dad is doing well, also.  We keep saying he is going to be OUR pallbearer!  We don't have any vacation plans this summer (we are saving up for our Hawaiian trip in January) but nevertheless we will be busy.  The granddaughters are enrolled in several summer camps and we will be on the road hauling them here and there.  We enjoy being with them.  They are going to Horse Camp, Art Camp, VBS, Campfire Camp, Camp Invention, Camp Lookingback (adventures of the "olden days"), and then they will take a vacation in Colorado.  What happened to hanging out during the summer and getting bored?  "-)

SUPPORT
update on Janice Hebert Boudreaux's brother, Alvin '64
Alvin was moved from Springfield, MO to Harbor Hospital in Beaumont.  This is a brand new facility that specializes in Pulmonary problems.  He has pulmonary fibrosis and will need a lung transplant in the future.  His pneumonia is better but he keeps developing other complications that hinder his recovery.  Keep him in your prayers.

Peggy Fontenot Mundschau's husband, Steve, had to have a quadruple bypass this week.  He was to stay in ICU for a couple of days before being moved to a regular room.
(We got to have some quality time visiting with Steve and Peggy at the "reunion".  They came late due to a mix-up on the time and most of the classmates were gone by then.)

I am having neck surgery Thursday, May 31, in Houston.  I am asking for prayers that everything goes well.

update on Molly Bigler '69 from her sister, Carolyn Bigler Hebert '58
(updated on May 18, 2012)
Molly is at St. Elizabeth's in Beaumont, not St. Mary's as I previously wrote.  She cannot have visitors yet, only family.  Monday, she will get a trach and still be hooked up to the ventilator.  They are going to give her a g-tube feeding tube.  Hopefully, she will be able to be moved to a critical rehab facility soon.  All of this from falling and hitting her head on the coffee table in the living room!

CONDOLENCES
It is my pleasure to report that no one sent in any death notices for this edition.
***************************************************************************
I hope you all enjoy the "mini-reunion" photos that were sent in.  Maybe this will make you want to be there in person for the NEXT one!
