MAIL CAIL:
from Florence "Sissie" Woods Cox
Up here in the Lakes area, we have
gone from no rain all through the summer months to 12 inches in one day.
Things are pretty much back to normal after Hurricane Rita. Still have
lots of pine trees down on the back part of my land, but it's too far in the
back for me to see. It's hunting season. I am not a hunter, I just
feed them all year long for the locals to stand on the other side of my 10 acres
and shoot them as they jump my fence.
My dog loves squirrel so I do hunt them for her. And yessssssss Linda I
can shoot a gun. I do lots of sewing and quilting when it's too dark
to work outside. I love living in the country.
Bart
and
Laura
will be moving back to the Kingwood area in the future and I am very excited
about that.

My daughter is expecting her second child, a son,
anyday now. Her daughter will be 4 in December, so with the birth, Thanksgiving,
Ryleigh's BD, and Christmas this year's ending will be busy.
In case no one knows I work for a State Farm Agent
(and have for the last 20 years...........and let me tell you Rita kicked my
ass..........When we returned to work our office was gutted and people were
lined out the door to the office for help.....It was my first and LAST
Catastrophe....Even though we have claims adjusters, our policyholders come to
us for help to understand what is going on......any way we are still tying up
loose ends on claims, but the worst is over.
My Richard, who has Scleroderma, is about the same,
which is good. With his limited use of his hands, you all would be amazed at the
things he CAN do......We go to his Dr. in Big H Nov. 8 (if my daughter
does not go into labor) and hopefully there will be a great new breakthrough in
medicine.. The cat lover I am, makes for a funny tale....my sister had 3
beautiful kittens left on her porch and my brother in law said " you ought
to take one" Well, we have 2 adult black females, one young orange male,
and a little black dog and that's in the house ........one big Grey tom
outside.....Last May, my sweet husband bought me a beauriful brand new Nissan
350Z Roadster..and he cannot even drive anymore...so I told my Brother in
law....If I bring home a Kitten...Richard's fingers would miraculously
straighten out and he would reach into my purse and pull out the Z keys and away
he would go Forever...
Saw Janis Nunez Lynch today. She is
one of my customers. She is enjoying her retirement....Me I guess I will work
forever.....
Love to all and keep Richard in your prayers....
PS Love the website!

Long time no see. I've enjoyed reading about
so many of our classmates. I would say the biggest thing going on in my
life is our business. My business partner and I have a software
development business here in Beaumont selling primarily to construction
companies across North America and Canada. We've been expanding, adding a
Denver sales office, with plans to add more sales staff. This keeps me
pretty busy so I haven't really had time for much else. I can't believe
this, but I've been divorced for 19 years! My how time flies. By the
way, I would love to get in touch with David Salter. If
you hear anything, please let me know. (Well, Richard....you are in luck.
I called him in Oklahoma City and got his e-mail address that is now posted in
the CLASSMATE LISTING page on our class website. How is that for service?)

I was finally able to get on the website and
couldn't pull myself away until around midnight!!!! It was certainly
bittersweet...seeing the pics of good friends who were like family....but at the
same time grieving over those who have passed away. I realized again how
blessed I was to have grown up in P.A. and attended T.J.
Thanks again. I hope things are well with you
and your family. Pass on my regards to any of our crew with whom you are
in contact. Hopefully Lana and I will be able to attend the next reunion.
from Jim Andrus (sent in by his
wife, Jane)
As far as news..... We have a new grandson. Bryce
Garrett Andrus was born Aug. 17 and he and his older brother Cole have not
missed one of the Flour Bluff HS football games this season that their Dad is
coaching. The Hornets are 7 - 2 for the season and only have one
more district game to play. With their last Friday night win over
Robstown, they have guaranteed going to the playoffs. Their first round
will be Nov. 17 against Mission. (time and place will be determined Wed.
11-8-06.) Jim & I have been going to every game and enjoying every
minute of it. WE ALSO ENJOYED UT'S WIN OVER TT a couple of weeks ago
(whew!!! was that a close one) Jim & I have a short trip to
New York after Thanksgiving. We are going with the Senior Circle group
from our county.(Sort of fitting don't you think?) We have never
been and are really looking forward to it. Have a wonderful holiday season.
from Billy Jordan:
As previously reported I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in July. I had
no symptoms and it was found early due to a rising PSA. I did a lot of
research on treatment options and elected to have a robotic assisted
laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. This was done last Wednesday at
Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. This is fairly new
technology and the biggest benefit is the rapid recovery time. My
experience has been great as when I woke up in recovery I did not have any pain.
I was discharged the next day exactly 24 hours after leaving recovery and have
felt fine and almost back to normal as I write this email. My surgeon did
not see any signs that the cancer had gotten out of the prostate gland. I
will get the pathology report on November 13th. I strongly encourage all
of my fellow male classmates to get your PSA checked every year and do not get
comfortable with one that stays in the norm range. Mind was in the norm
range and just because I have a conservative doctor and it changed I had a
biopsy that found it.

Just
wanted to let you know how much I’m enjoying the updates and the website.
I spent way too much time on it a week or so ago when I should have been
in bed. Thank you for putting the 1968 annual up on the site – I lost
mine somewhere along the way while I was in college. It was neat to look
back at it again. You know, I don’t even remember what some of those
organizations were – what was Heralds?
Here’s a brief update on what’s going on with us. Sailboat racing is
over for the year so I have my weekends back again – we campaign the boat
pretty seriously in the northern
Chesapeake Bay
from May through October. Not a lot of trophies this year, but we mostly
had fun. I’m a seasonal tax preparer at Grant Thornton, and I made
through one more October 15th (the due date for the folks who can’t
get their act together by April 15th) so now I’m off until January
or February. (Except for emergencies on some of my large clients). During
my time off, I’ll be taking care of the accounting for the pharmaceutical
engineering firm that Narlin started nearly two years ago with a young engineer
that he worked with at his former job. It started slower than Narlin
wanted, but it looks like they’ll make it. Business is picking up, and
they’ve broadened their services from consulting to equipment fabrication and
water system installations.
Narlin’s oldest boy (Ben, 24) is in his second year of medical school at the
University
of
MD
, and is probably officially engaged by now. He told us he was going to
propose to his girlfriend of 3 years, and I’m just thrilled. He’s so
busy with classes we hardly ever hear from him even though he lives in downtown
Baltimore
. The younger boy (Bear, 20) is in his 3th year of college at
the
University
of
Dayton
, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
I’ll be in
Port Arthur
this month – my mom needs some corrective surgery for a sore on her leg that
won’t heal. I was planning to come down any way to visit, but now I can
help her with her convalescence. I’ll be staying at her house.

Linda, please put
me on the list of classmates willing to donate to a paid website. Thought
I had already sent that message, but its probably one of those things I meant to
do and never got around to it!

Don't forget to check the CLASSMATE LISTING page on the website to find
out where these classmates live.
Has anyone noticed how many GUYS
have contacted me this month? Now, where were they when I needed a date to
the prom? Hmmm
Did you enjoy catching up on the news from these
classmates? PLEASE don't make me beg, just take a little
time to write me so that others can enjoy something about you and your family or
job. Mike and I can not make up news. We just aren't very creative
that way. This website and UPDATE is what you make it.

WEBSITE NEWS
Mike
works tirelessly on updating the website pages. He gets e-mails from me
daily (several each night actually) items that come from the classmates.
It is certainly a LABOR OF LOVE. We have had a few kinks since it has been
BORN, but Mike assures me that it isn't anything to go POSTAL over.
Actually, this week included a crazy night. Some of you might have
noticed that you got weird websites when you tried to go to ours. I got
BATCAVE.net and GOOGLE even when typing in our address. We just
can't wait until we get our PAID WEBSITE. I opened an account at a local
credit union so that we would have a place to deposit your contributions.
It is in Mike and my name. Below is the list of classmates that
have previously offered contributions. You may send a contribution check
written out to me (Linda McFadden) and I will deposit
them in the account to pay for our domain and monthly fees. You might want
to write TJ website on the memo line of your check.
Beverly Copeland Gaspard will do us the honor of getting the account with
GoDaddy. When it is all completed, I will send a notice of our new website
address. Yeah! Feel free to contact us on ways to make this site
better. I know that you all have good ideas and we aim to please.

the closets and maybe even your parents' homes might have some photos from the
good ole days that you might share with us. We like to have newer photos,
also. I know those aren't packed away!!!
