The Class  NEWSLETTER                                                                         10/19/12

Well, my Boston Red Sox team stunk during the season and my second love, the NY Yankees didn't do much to lift my spirits either!  Don't even get me started on my Dallas Cowboys!!!

MAIL CALL

from Felicia Hiatt Petit
(taken off of Face Book)

Camping with friends.  I love being able to go whenever we want now that we are retired.  We had a nice campfire last night and some homemade potato soup when we got here.

from Camille Messina Hudson in Lake Jackson
(taken off of Face Book)

Kinsey and Keeley, our twin daughters, are BOTH pregnant!  Kinsey is expecting a girl and Keeley is expecting twin boys!  They are due almost at the same time...late November, early December.

from Hal Ross in Nederland

Pat Lange and his son, Troy, Pete Huber and his son, Pete, Kent Falgout, and I, together with 13 other friends from Austin, Dallas, and Houston made it to George West on September 27-29 for our annual Dove Bust. We had some great hunts and fellowship. The only downer was the 4 inches of rain on Friday night, but we still managed to get in four hunts and bag plenty of birds. Unfortunately we didn't do a lot of picture taking. The following weekend Alex and I went back to George West with a group led by former TJ grad, Ron Arceneaux and including former classmate, Glen Tryer. The weather was flawless and the birds again were plentiful. We are looking forward to expanding our group and doing it again next year, right after our reunion. If any other of our classmates and their family or friends want to join us, get in touch with me. We would love to have you.

From Gayle Snider Davis in Edmonds, WA

We have been away for several weeks getting to meet our first grandbaby!  Great fun!

45th REUNION
Mark your calendars...Aug. 2-4, 2013

Before we send out any information by U.S. Mail we need to confirm your address on our spreadsheets.  My committee members have told me that they have spent a lot of time leaving messages on answering machines and never are receiving a call back.  Please be respectful and know that this is our only opportunity to contact you.  After several tries, we will have to spend possibly wasted REUNION funds on postage that could be going to an outdated address.

Beverly Copeland and husband, Ronnie Gaspard came to visit last weekend and she helped me tweek some info that I had been adding on my spreadsheet.  She was the one who made up the first spreadsheet several years ago for me to use!  She is also a guru on the computer but my MAC has her a little baffled.  Sorry, Bev.

RSVP Reunion List

I have been sending Mike a list of names of the classmates that  have written or told me that they were looking forward to making our gathering next August.  No money has changed hands since we haven't even gotten to that point yet.  But, please send me a note, message, text, call, holler at me on the street, etc. if you think you might be able to come.  We will continue to add to the list that way.  You can find this list of names on the front page of the class website under the heading REUNION NEWS/SCHEDULE.  Mike has even come up with a clock that continues to COUNTDOWN the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until it is finally here!

RSVP's

I received a call from Jimmy Schexnayder in Wimberly, TX who wanted to make sure he knew when and where the reunion was going to be held.  He is really looking forward to seeing all his old friends again.  He also said to contact him if you are in the Wimberly area.  I'll give you his information if you need it.

A note from Billy Jordan in Decatur, AL:

I have the reunion dates on my calendar and plan to be there. It will be the first time I have been back to PA since my oldest sister died in the fall of 2007. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and having a good time. I am just not looking forward to the 12+ hour drive!

Another message was received from Karen Cooper in Prairieville, LA:

Ogden and I will be at the reunion for sure! So will Shari Champagne and her husband and '67 graduate, Robert Adams.

Class of '70 WEBSITE

It is up and running.  Hal Coward, with help from Rhonda Carleton Richey and a few other gals, (don't know them all), have the website LIVE now.  You can take a look-see at www.tjhsclassof70.com  It is well worth it.  Drop them a line in their message section or help them with finding other '70 classmates.  Mike and I are very proud of their efforts.  It is another LABOR OF LOVE.  Tell 'em we sent you!

HEY, WASN'T THAT US?

A little house with three bedrooms, one bath, and one car to be shared by all.

A mower you had to push to make the grass look neat.

A kitchen wall phone with no answering machine...someone was always home.

A living room so everyone could gather around the television.....

Unless it was mealtime where we all ate in the kitchen together.

Weekends were for family trips or we stayed home to play in the neighborhood.

We all did things together, even go to church to pray.

There were movies with our favorite movie stars.

We packed picnic baskets in the summer.

We played sandlot baseball and jacks on a porch.

Milkmen went door to door and the mailman knew your name and took time to chat.

Music was listened to on a 45 vinyl record and sock hops were held.

Times just seemed slower and fun.

THAT IS IT AGAIN.  I BET YOU NOTICED THAT I DIDN'T HAVE MUCH IN THE MAIL CALL.  IT HAS “DRIED” UP.  I AM EVEN HAVING TO “STEAL” FROM FACE BOOK.  COME ON NOW.....DROP ME A LINE OR TWO, SEND ME A NOTE ABOUT COMING TO THE REUNION, TELL ME IF YOU KNOW OF SOMEONE WHO COULD USE SUPPORT OR IF YOU KNOW OF A DEATH THAT NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED.  I'M UP FOR ANYTHING.
