from Linda Langhoff Wheatley in Elberta, AL

I am so excited that I will be coming back to PA for my FIRST high school reunion!  I can't wait to see everyone.  Thanks to you and Mike for the class website to help keep us together.

from Galen Ducharme in Lorena, TX

Debbie, my child bride, and I plan on attending the reunion. In February, I had knee replacement surgery and was not sure if I could make a five hour trip to PA. I still have issues but feel we will be able to make the drive.

Debbie retired this past October, and I plan to do the same December 31, 2013. Thirty-eight years of accounting is enough for me. Thanks for all you two do for our class.

from Billy Jordan in Decatur, AL

(taken off of Facebook)

She goes to the computer and pulls up research information on an animal. She prints out the fact sheets she needs. She than highlights the key facts and transfers them to her report data sheet. She decides how she is going to put the information in a report and than proceeds to develop a Power Point presentation with inserted pictures. Sounds like a high school or college student? She is one of many first graders at Ben Davis Elementary in Decatur, AL. With kids like this our future is bright.

I used "She" generically. There are several boys and girls doing this in the class. Seems the boys actually are more motivated than the girls in developing Power Point presentations. The girls are more into doing posters because they like doing the art work.

 NEWS FROM THE HOMEFRONT

I had an extended Cinco de Mayo birthday celebration.  It started early on May 3rd when I purchased some new flip flops with Dad's birthday money that had baseballs made out of Swarovski crystals on them.  I've had my eye on them since I spotted them in January!  Then, on May 4th, Murphy brought me to the bike shop in Beaumont to get a new “comfort mountain bike.”  On my ACTUAL birthday, May 5th, we went to my brother's in Friendswood for a Cinco de Crawfish Boil!  My brother can never do something small.  NOOOOO.  We had 170 pounds of crawfish, boudain eggrolls, sausage, ribs, burgers, hotdogs, corn of the cob, potatoes, onions, dips & chips, desserts, and of course LIBATIONS!  I was really excited because I brought my sister and dad.  It was a family reunion and my sister's children and grandchildren were all there.  She only sees all of them during the holidays.

Well, my Cinco de ME, ME, ME celebration extended until May 6th when several classmates met at Schooners to enjoy each other's company.  Eighteen ladies showed up and laughed, talked, and caught up on what's going on in our lives.  I even got a couple of checks for the reunion!  “-)

REUNION NEWS

Stop the PRESSES!  Since the last update two weeks ago, I have received reunion checks for, (DRUM ROLL please.......), TEN classmates and EIGHT guests!!!  That means we have a total of 127 actual attendees so far.  I keep looking at my list and see MANY, MANY more names of classmates that are GAMERS and come to each and every one!  So, I know we will have an excellent turnout.  Now, you know what you have to do.  Get the check book out and send the money in.  We would like to start getting an idea of an approximate number so that we can order “goodies”!

Thanks also to Janette Light Norton who felt “guilty” about procrastinating and not only sent in her money for her and Richard for the reunion but added  some extra for “whatever is needed”!  Gracias

Be sure to look over the RSVP list under the heading REUNION NEWS and see who is coming.  Remember that attendance is what makes the reunion a success.  I am really excited about our FIRST TIMERS!

SUPPORT

(from Jeanette Constantine Morgan about her mom in the hospital)

Hello everyone. I just wanted to let you'll know that Mom had a better day today. We found out that she is not keeping anything on her stomach because her stomach is not emptying. She has had no food in 5 days and her stomach was full of food particles. The doctor said there is something big blocking her stomach and keeping the food there. He could not tell what it was. He said it could be a tumor or possibly built up scar tissue. He is leaving her on clear liquids for a few more days and then repeating the test to see if he can tell more. He may have to do surgery to remove it. She also has a large ulcer and a lot of inflammation and hiatal hernia. Please keep her in your prayers. She has now lost 20 lbs. in 4 weeks. Love you all.

(Jeanette also had a heart stint put in on May 3.  Please keep them both in your prayers.)

(update on Hal Ross and Boo Griffin Anglin's son-in-law)

Charlie Lefort has entered a new phase in the healing process. The skin is about 95% covered, nephrology (kidney team) has signed off, and now the physical therapy has become the primary focus. We can hear his voice and he can verbally communicate since the trach has been removed. He still has a long road ahead as far as rehabilitation goes, and we look forward to him getting stronger and being ambulatory. Tomorrow he is scheduled for surgery #15. God's Grace and all of your prayers have carried Charlie this far. We ask for you to please remember him in your prayers.
"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." -James 5:16 —

(a note from Arlette Sonnier Guidry '69)

I just got back home this morning from the hospital in Houston .Praise God... another miracle.  The new test did not line up with the ones from one month ago.  My blood pressure is coming down within normal ranges, blood sugars are good. No surgery, no stents, no significant blockage. He is still listening & healing. To God be the glory. I'm healed again. Medicines are all working well. Thanks again to all of my prayer warriors.  You are so awesome. You can always be counted on. I do have a birth defect that has been with me for 62 yrs. but it is not life threatening. Great to be home & healing. A special thank you to Sherie for taking such great care of us & to Shareen & Mike for taking care of Tony. Love you all

CONDOLENCES

(a note from Sandra Nicks Kelley regarding her husband's death)

Thank you for all of the prayers and well wishes. Steve went to be with Jesus . He went peacefully without pain and no suffering anymore. He was a big piece of me and will always be so. My body is going to never be whole again until we meet again in the city of gold. He is at the gates in his dress blues greeting everyone- due to never meeting a stranger- asking "With what branch did you serve? Well, go back because you are not a United States Marine".
