MAIL CALL

from Liz Tieskens Ellis in Sugar Land

I just wanted to drop  a line to say thank you again for a wonderful reunion. I wish I had been able to stay for Saturday night and the breakfast, but a family reunion was held the same weekend. I so enjoyed Friday night, connecting with so many. Butch and I are well, planning for retirement (very soon), and expecting 3 new grand babies in very near future. We currently have one 4 year old granddaughter in Dallas, with her new baby sister scheduled to arrive on Monday, Oct. 14. Baby boy twins are due in January in Denver. Life is full and we are looking forward to the future. I will post more and pics as our family grows. God bless to all.

from Richard Daniels in Beaumont

I just realized that I never sent you and the Reunion Committee a thank you for putting on such a wonderful event.

Chanda and I had an absolutely terrific time. The Friday night event we attended went off perfectly. I can only imagine how much time and effort went into making this happen so I just wanted to say a belated thank you to everyone involved.

REUNION

Be sure to check out the reunion photos on our website each update.  Every two weeks I send Mike about 40-50 photos to add to our reunion pictures.  That way he isn't so inundated with 500 photos all at once.  I am going to pick up the CD of the Saturday night event and the breakfast on Sunday from our photographer, Wayne Taylor, Friday morning. He has worked really hard to check out the photos and spend hours cropping them for us.  If you are enjoying his work, please drop him a thank you for the tremendous job he did.

NEWS FROM THE HOMEFRONT

It is a good thing that baseball season is almost over because I won't be able to scream at the tv for awhile.  I am having vocal cord surgery on Monday, Oct. 21, at Methodist Hospital.  For some of you that don't know, I had polyps removed off of my vocal cords in May and July of 1972.  Then, I had thyroid cancer in February, 1980 and one of my vocal cords was paralyzed.  So, I have had the GRAVEL GIRTY voice since then.  I had teflon injected on the side of the dead vocal cord in 1982 to push it closer to the working one.  It has developed a granuloma and another polyp that needs to be removed.  I will be on VOICE REST for 10 days starting Oct. 21-30.  Now, the good news is that Murphy won't have to listen to me.  The bad news is that he is going to have to do the talking to my Dad instead of me. Since Dad has dementia, I am wondering how often he is going to forget I can't talk!  It should be fun.  One thing that won't change is that I CAN text and e-mail!  Yea.  But, I am wondering if my blood pressure will go up since I can't scream at the baseball games or the DALLAS COWBOYS!

(Seriously, please say a prayer for a successful surgery.  Thanks.)

SUPPORT

Carla Castro Stewart's husband, Ricky, has been in and out of the hospital and ICU with the doctors trying to figure out what is going on with him.  He is heading to Houston for more tests.  Let's show Carla and Ricky our support at this stressful time.
