It has been a
LONG two weeks since I have written you. I'll talk more about
it in the NEWS FROM THE HOMEFRONT. I'm tired and don't really
know if this NEWSLETTER will be my best effort.

Kent and I went on a seven day cruise on the Voyager of
the Seas. We visited the ports of Cozumel, Grand Cayman,
and
Montego Bay,
Jamaica.
We really had a good time but we were glad to get home!

I was telling a friend about your class website. She is a TJ
'67 graduate and she was excited to hear about it. She is
Sheri (Sanders) Cricchio. Maybe
some of the classmates will remember her.
(We are always happy to have new viewers to our website.)

I was just wondering about the website
updates. I haven't received any in a long time. I wrote
some stuff down for the I REMEMBER WHEN section, but you know all
about age, now I can't find it. I'll start a new one. I
think I have some that some of the classmates won't remember.
(I don't know what the reason is since we update the website every
two weekends come hell or high water....wait! Not hurricane
floods! I'll double check your e-mail address to make sure
that we have it correct when Mike sends out the "heads-up" note.)

We just found out that our daughter, Jenny, has been accepted to the
University of Texas Nursing School. She's been through two
years of rigorous classes designed to weed out 1/3 of the
pre-nursing students. We are really proud of her.(As
you SHOULD be! Congrats to Jenny.)

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather
to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body
thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO!
What a ride.
(Did you make this up or take it from somewhere else? Hmmm.
Enjoy yourself.)

I am home now from my little trip to Cajun country with my husband,
son, and new daughter-in-law. She toured her first swamp, ate
her first boudin and etouffe, and did the Cajun two step and
learned Zydeco dancing. We all had a good time!
(I bet she had a blast but didn't know what hit her! Cajuns
KNOW how to have a good time, shay.)

My husband and I just spent some quality time
with our two grandsons (first cousins). They are the same age.
We went to the
Baytown to meet Zack who lives in Friendswood.
Nick lives in
Nederland. We watched movies, went to a
parade and festival, bike riding, Chucky Cheese, shopping, more
movies, board games, more bike riding, etc. They are gone and
I am off for a long hot tub bath! I wish Sonic in the next
block sold WINE COOLERS!
(My littlest granddaughter is asleep in the other room. That
is why I grabbed the computer and started this while I had a chance.
Aren't GRANDKIDS just the GRANDEST?)

NEWS FROM THE HOMEFRONT
I spoke too soon in the last NEWSLETTER two weeks ago about Mom
doing a little better. The very next day she had to
call
the ambulance because of congestive heart failure (lungs filled up)
and she couldn't catch her breath. She stayed in the hospital
for 4 days and Dad and I stayed up at the hospital all day and then
I would bring him back to my house in
Lumberton at night. We finally returned
to the apartment and the very next day she got up and tripped on her
oxygen tubing and hit her head on the door facing. That meant
a trip to the ER and another afternoon gone. She is very weak
and my sister,(who tries to help watch Mom), is having her own
health problems. So, I found a very nice 61 year old
Groves woman who just
started to stay with my parents for 3 days a week from 9-4.
Hopefully, that gives me two days and my sister two days. But,
with my sister's health issues I might have to UP the sitter's days.
We'll see. I feel like I am such a complainer. It is so
hard to see my mom in her condition and run back and forth.
Please pray for my parents and their future. Also, please
remember my sister with her struggles with manic depression.

MISCELLANEOUS
Good news! Dennis
O'Quinn's dad returned home today from
rehab after his hip surgery. He has been gone several weeks.
They live next door to my parents.
Sharon Lewis
Forrest
has moved into her new home in Boerne, TX. Remember Sharon lost EVERYTHING during hurricane Ike while living on
the water in Baytown. They have been living in a
travel trailer while her husband recouperated from heart problems
and also during construction of their beautiful home.
Congratulations!
THAT REMINDS ME
OF SOMETHING! Sharon
hasn't sent me her new home address.
Many of you have retired and have not updated your personal info for
me to change on the class spreadsheet. That is my life-line folks!

Easter is right
around the corner. The yards in the neighborhoods are starting
to sprout more St. Augustine and the
trees are blooming. I have one azalea and two bridal wreaths
that are blooming, also. Things are looking up in the world.
Love you all.
