Hola,
I am coming to you from a much dryer, much less "mosquitoey"
homestead this month. We dodged Ernesto and we are breathing a sigh of
relief. With these nice cool mornings (okay about 5-6 am), maybe
autumn won't be too far away. We can always hope. Now, let's get to the
good stuff:

MAIL CALL
(from his wife, Rhonda) Since retiring from Huntsman
June 1st, Bill is playing golf, fishing, hunting, camping, singing, playing his
trumpet and fiddle, playing homemaker while wife works, going to the casino, and
building a house. He is busy and happy. Rhonda will retire soon.
Bill and Rhonda will inherit a 2 year old granddaughter when their oldest
son, Chris, marries in December and look forward to more grandkids in the
future.
Raymond and I have signed up to go on the TJ/BB
cruise in April. We will be traveling with the sons of the Prioux TV
family. I am claustrophobic and get sea sick on boats! We just
celebrated 37 years of marriage. We went to Galveston. Our daughter
is teaching at Sims Elementary in Bridge City and our son just got an
instructor's job at a beauty school in Beaumont.
I don't know how many of you remember my older
sister, Kathy (class of 67). She taught in Nederland. Last school year, she
moved to Austin to teach her last 2 years so that she could collect social
security. Her husband died of a massive heart attack Aug.22. She lost her first
husband, Skip Underwood (class of 67), to a massive heart attack on his
40th birthday. In the last 3 weeks, her daughter has been diagnosed with a heart
valve problem and her son with cancer. Robert, my youngest sister Cynthia's
husband, has been told that he has cancer. The tumor was contained and had not
spread at the time of the operation. However, the doctor believes that it got
into his bloodstream during the surgery. He is suppose to have a biopsy on
Tuesday. What a three weeks! We can see God working through it all. But, it is
hard watching my sibling hurt so bad. Please say a prayer for them.
I've been going crazy (not very far to go,
really), with my son in the Navy (San Diego) and my daughter getting ready to go
off to college. The family is getting ready to drive out to California in two
weeks to see Evan and vacation a bit. How
are things there? I came through P.A. about two months ago after doing some
things for the Earth & Space Sciences Department at Lamar. Things didn't
quite look the same. It's kinda sad, really, no more TJ, what's the world coming
to?
(Received this
later from John)
I
really like hearing about the folks from TJ. Janie and I just got back from San
Diego where we were visiting our son before he ships out to Japan. I'll fill you
in on the details when I get some things cleaned up here at work.
Jim
and I are still living in Baytown. He retired from the Army in 1996 and I
transferred to Houston with Texaco, which became Equilon, which became Shell. Jim
and I will celebrate our 38th anniversary in November. Our two kids,
Michelle and Chris, are married and have given us 5 grandchildren - 4 girls and
a boy whose ages range from 6 - 17. They are a joy! Michelle and her
family still live in Port Neches. Chris is a captain in the Army and is
stationed at Ft. Gordon, GA. I recently graduated from University of
Houston with my MBA. Not sure what got into me to decide to go back to
school at this age. I guess it was just an unfulfilled goal.
I was the "oldest living MBA student!" Anyway, that's done and my
desire for higher education has been satisfied - trust me!
I
have a 28 year old daughter that has given me two grandchildren. My 25
year old son is not married yet. Presently, I am living in Utica, MS but I
will be moving to Pennsylvania at the beginning of October. I would enjoy
hearing from anyone to catch up with what is going on with everyone.
Gylnn
and I just celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary on July 19th with a 7 night
trip to Cozumel. Now it is back to work. We are awaiting our 3rd
grandchild in early September. This will be our first boy! We have
two daughters and two granddaughters.
I
even think I am beginning to recognize some names and put them with faces from
school days in the UPDATES. I plan to see ya'll in '08!
(David sent me some advice on how to back up my class info so
that I don't have such a disaster like I did in the "'06" crash!)
If you have a CD writer in your computer, then backing up is a snap, or maybe
use a memory stick. If anyone gets a chance, check out my BURNING TREE program's
website, www.burningtree.com (David
is the founder and managing partner of Burning Tree)
(More advice and help offered...thanks)
Good job...sorry to hear about your computer. Backing
up is a good idea. Our second grandchild was born June 2nd (Landy James
Bouillion) and our granddaughter Addison Rae Bouillion will be two on Aug. 5th.
I found this great site called dropshots.com where I can store my videos and
photos and share with friends. There is no charge unless you want them to
be downloadable to someone on the other end. You can place and view at no
charge. This might be a way for everyone to share their own photos of
family, and even themselves. It might be less of a shock to classmates if
they know how their friends have matured (like fine wine) I'm sure. My ID
on dropshots.com is tonnalcb in case you want to test it. It's hot, hot,
hot in Leander...can't wait until Fall gets here!
By the way, I will gladly help with computer work, i.e.
spreadsheets, etc. I'm pretty handy with a computer, so give me a yell if
I can help out in any way.
I also HEARD (received e-mail) from the following classmates since
the last UPDATE of Aug. 1, 2006:
Janice Hebert Boudreaux in Kingwood (catching me up on her
family news), Beth Anne Sutherlin Coakley in Bedford, ( I
saw a photo of her beautiful new granddaughter),
Christine Crochet Wramp in Bremerton, WA, Linda Blakley Rindlishbacher in
Oroville, CA (she was heading out on a short RV trip),
Mike Lawson in West Columbia, Mike Barbay in Crosby, Albert
"Jack" Weldon in Fort Worth (he is about to move
up North), Randy Monte in Petaluma, CA, Jody Hopkins
Barbin in Waco, Nelwyn Comeaux Blanchette in Kingston Springs, TN, Gail Wilson
Felker in Williamsburg, VA, Allen Baldridge BACK to Dallas, Jane
Lippincott Koerth, Beverly Copeland Gaspard, Peggy Edwards Hatfield, Charlotte
Pace Thurston (catching me up on her family news), & Linda
Gothia, all from Port Neches, and Dianna Caillier Lewis (she
is helping with the "missing" classmates) in Port Arthur.
Now, who else has a "job" out there that would be enable them
to enjoy hearing from that many classmates?
SIGHTINGS:
Sandra Garsea Broussard in the dr's office, Tillman
Richey and James Miller both shopping at Mkt. Basket
in Bridge City, Joe Gongora and Bobby Arciva
heading out on the bus to the casino, Linda Dowling Weldon, Jane
Lippincott Koerth, and Susan Byrd LeBlanc enjoying a
great seafood meal at Larry's French Mkt. Restaurant in Groves.

Well, Murphy and I will be heading off into the wild blue yonder September 11th.
We are going with a tour of 43 others to Canada to explore Nova Scotia, New
Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. It is an 11 day trip and I am happy
to be "running away" for awhile. Keep us in your thoughts and
prayers as we head out. Let me hear from you so that I can have enough
information for my next UPDATE. Oh, by the way, I JUST MIGHT HAVE
A VERY EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE IN A FEW DAYS!!! (NO, I AM NOT
PREGNANT!)
Take care and keep in touch friends,
Linda DeCuir McFadden
