Howdy
friends.
Today
will be
a short
NEWSLETTER.
I
haven't
been
receiving
much
input
from
you.
My
imagination
is
bogging
down so
I
decided
not to
MAKE UP
ANY NEWS
this
time.
Let me
hear
from you
even if
it is
just a
sentence
or two.
from
Gene
Baskin

Neches
and
BEYOND......
Well,
here's a
little
update
on my
retirement.
I did
retire
on June
30th
after
39+
years at
Texaco/Star
Enterprise/Motiva
Enterprises.
I have
been
busy
since
then.
We have
made two
trips to
Wisconsin
this
summer
and just
got back
from 8
days in
Branson,
MS.
We had a
great
time in
Branson.
We saw
four
Christmas
shows
and the
weather
was
great.
I am
still
working
a lot at
my ranch
in
Polk
County and yes, I did buy a bulldozer!
It just
doesn't
seem
that I
have as
much
time to
do
things
as I
thought
I would,
but at
least I
don't
have to
set the
alarm
for
4:45am
anymore!

Beverly

We are
now
grandparents!
Our son,
Phil and
his
wife,
Wendy
had a
boy,
Jackson,
born
November
12th.

We have
a new
grandson,
Jakob
Wayne
Hebert.
Everyone's
fine.

With
time,
women
gain
weight
because
we
accumulate
so much
information
and
wisdom
in our
heads
that
when
there is
no more
room, it
distributes
out
to the
rest of
our
bodies.
So, we
aren't
heavy,
we are
enormously
cultured,
educated
and
happy.
Beginning
today,
when I
look at
my butt
in the
mirror I
will
think,
Good
grief,
look how
smart I
am!
(That's
my story
and I'm
sticking
to it!)
***********************************************************************
Well, I
guess I
had been
too
comfortable
with Dad
doing
well
since
Mom's
passing.
It will
be 6
months
on
Thanksgiving
Day.
He has
been
weepy
lately
over
different
things:
music,
talking
about
long ago
during
his
childhood,
his
parents,
etc.
I really
don't
know how
much of
this is
his
dementia
or is it
depression?
I will
have to
really
watch
out and
see what
progresses.
Murphy
and I
went to
Larry's
French
MKT.
in Groves Friday, Nov. 12 to listen to the band
Easy and
visit
with old
friends.
There
were
about
25-30
TJ'ites
and
their
spouses
from
many
classes.
Lionel
Menchaca
('66) and
John
Parent
('66)
played
in the
band.
The
music
was
great.
Classmates
there
were
Jane
Lippincott
and
Janis
Hamilton.
Kent
Koerth,
Linda
Newsome,
Ronnie
Cooper,
Marilyn
Theriot
from '66
were
there.
Murphy
McFadden
and
George
Taylor
from '67
attended.
David
Neal,
George
Broussard,
and
Beverly
Edwards
(Peggy's
sister)
were
also
enjoying
the
music
and
wonderful
food.
We saw
classmate,
Susan
Byrd
and
husband
John
LeBlanc,
burning
up the
dance
floor.
John is
doing
wonderful
since
his
cancer
surgery.
(My
apologies
to the
attendees
that are
not
listed.)
We are
heading
to
Hideaway,
TX (an
hour
from Dallas) to visit with a classmate from Lakeview
and
Travis
Elementary.
Allen
Baldridge
and I go
back a
long,
long
way.
He is
one of
my
favorite
friends
in the
world.
He,
Terry
Watson,
and
David
Williams
were my
bestest
buds in
high
school
and
college
days.
Love
those 3
guys!!!!
I smile
at the
fun we
have had
and even
the
tears we
shed
over the
years.
They
spent
many an
hour at
my home
visiting
and
hanging
out.
Mom and
Dad
loved
them a
lot and
knew
they
would
"protect"
me when
we were
out and
about.
Debbie
Borres
Desmond and
I had a
nice
leisurely
lunch at
the new
Tropical
Grill
across
from
Ritter's
Lumber
on Hwy
365.
The food
was
really
good.
I
recently
went to
see
SECRETARIAT,
the
movie,
with
my dad
and
classmate,
Ernie
Castaneda
Bullion.
It was
the
first
movie my
dad has
been to
since
probably
the
50's! Wonder
what he
was
thinking?
My
daughter,
son-in-law,
and 7
year old
granddaughter
will be
running
in the
5k
Turkey
Trot
Thursday
at
Terrell
Park
in
Beaumont.
The
other
granddaughter,
6 years
old, is
entered
in the
1K.
Murphy,
Dad, and
I will
be
supporting
along
side the
road
cheering
them on.
Then, we
will go
to
Stacy's
in-laws
in
Orangefield
and have
a big
ole
dinner
prepared
by her
mother-in-law!
I am
happy to
be with
extended
family.
I am
saddened
that
this is
my first
THANKSGIVING
without
my sweet
momma!
I love
and miss
you.

Update
from
Debbie
Dolce
Carter
on her
battle
with
cancer:
God is
so
good,.
I had a
great
report
from the
doctor.
My blood
count
was
highter
than I
have
ever had
in my
lifetime.
At this
time, I
do not
have to
have a
port
because
I did so
well
with the
first
treatment.
The
nodes
that
were
visible
were not
there
today!
Thanks
to all
the
prayer
warriors.
The
chemo
went
great
today....Shorter
than
last
time.
I was a
little
"loopy"
and weak
in the
knees
for a
little
while.
God has
blessed
me with
wonderful
family
and
friends.
A note
from
Martha
Lipe
Bodin
'69:
Nancy
Nusom
Hamilton,
(wife of
Milton
Hamilton)
both of
class of
'67, had
surgery
Nov.
10th and
has
breast
cancer.
She had
a
mystectomy
and they
will
know
more
when the
tests of
the
lymph
nodes
will return.
She will
have 6-8
months
of
chemotherapy
and any
treatments
needed.
They are
asking
for
prayers.

"Liz
Tieskens
Ellis'
mom
passed
away
this
evening
at the
age of
101.
Althought
Mimi, as
we
called
her, had
recently
fallen
and
injured
her tail
bone,
she was
still
able to
stay
home
with
Liz.
After
living
with Liz
for more
than 30
years,
Mimi
finally
decided
the time
had come
to join
Harry,
the love
of her
life,
and
Liz's
father.
Just
thinking
of them
together
again
makes me
smile.
