Charles Andrew Gill 11/25/48 - 10/1/99

50, of Lufkin, died Fridayat his home after a long illness with cancer. A native of Orange, he wasa longtime resident of Port Arthur before moving to Lufkin five yearsago. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam War. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Greenlawn Memorial Parkwith the Rev. Edward Thibodeaux officiating. 60,of Groves passed away on Monday, December21, 2009 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur. Mr. Girouard was born in PortArthur on April 9, 1949 and was a lifelong arearesident. He was a painter for the Port Arthur Independent School District.

Auturo "Arthur" Gracia 9/6/49 - 2/24/07

was born on Sept. 6, 1949 in Guadalajara, Mexico . He passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2007 in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. He came to America at age 5 in 1954. Arturo was a 1968 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and a graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He retired from the U. S. National Guard after 30 years ofservice. He has over 35 years of service with Valero. Arturo wasvery active in the community having sponsored youth soccer, baseball andmany other activities.
He was part of LULAC and neighborhood watch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Gracia and Rita RamosGracia. He is survived by his only sibling, Mabel GraciaSonnier (Husband Randy P. Sonnier); two nephews, Michael Jason Sonnier(Wife Nicole-Son Jagger), Kevin Scott Sonnier (Wife Christina- DaughtersKrysten and Marlee); one niece, Melissa Renee’ Sonnier.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 2, 2007 from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. with arosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Saturday, March3, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial to followat Greenlawn Memorial Park . His loving kindnessand generosity affected everyone that knew him. His loss has certainlyleft this earth a lesser place. Let Arthur’s life be a reminder to usall that goodness still exists in this world.

James D. Granger 12/7/48 - 9/25/99

50, of Port Arthur died Saturday at Delhart Hospital in Amarillo. A native and lifelong resident of Port Arthur, he was a truck driver. Hewas a Vietnam veteran of the Marine Corps and a member of St. JamesCatholic Church.
Services will be at 1pm Thursday at St, James Catholic Church with theRev. James Vanderholt officiating. Burial will follow in Memory GardensCemetery in Nederland under the directions of Clayton-Thompson FuneralHome in Groves. Visitation will be from 11am to 9pm, and a rosary willbe recited at 7:30pm, both Wednesday at the Funeral Home.

John Graybill 5/03/49 - 6/29/11

62, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in Heber Springs AR. He was born ay 3, 1949 in Port Arthur, Texas to Minyard and Mary Graybill. John was a Veteran of the Army National Guard, he also worked himself up thru the ranks with 3M Phone Company, beginning as a lineman and later on as a trainer and instructor. He was a very giving person, with a wonderful dry sense of humor, he enjoyed spending time with his wife Frances, going to church and pulling jokes on people. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening and was a man who was God fearing and loved his country. He is preceded in death by his parents, Minyard and Mary Graybill. He is survived by his wife, Frances Graybill of Rose Bud, AK; one son, John Sydney Graybill of Pasadena, Texas; one daughter, Stephanie Michelle of Baytown Texas; two brothers, Steven Graybill of West Palm Beach, Florida and David Graybill of Sarasota, Florida; five grandchildren, Madison Graybill, Justin Daid, Bailey Darnell, Cole Darnell and Blake Darnell. Visitation will be held Friday July 1, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Heber Springs Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 10:00am Saturday July 2, 2011 at the Cleburne County Baptist Church in Heber Springs, AK.

66, of Nederland, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016.

Pedro "Pete" Thomas Guerrero 2/17/49 - 1/7/11

39, of Nederland died Tuesday, August 15, 1989 at Jeannie Sealy Hospital in Galveston after an illness. He was a native and lifelong Port Arthur-Nederland area resident. He was employed as an operator with nine years of service and was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Nederland Memorial Funeral Home. His remains were cremated. Survivors include his wife, Kelly Powers; two daughters, Leslie Becker and Zoe Becker; a son, Jeffrey Becker; father, John Becker; stepmother, Mary Blanton Becker; a brother, Johnny Becker; and three stepbrothers, Michael, Terry, and Chris Blanton. _ ___________________________________________

Phillip G. Hall 7/17/50 - 3/29/13

62, was born in Port Arthur, Texas on July 17, 1950 to William H. Hall and Frances Titus Hall. He is survived by two sons William Morris Hall, Weston Philip Hall and daughter Whitney Grace Hall. All living in the the Austin area. Also, sister Rhonda Hall of Port Neches, Tx, and brother Larry Hall of Montgomery, Tx. And former wife Julie Hall of Austin, Tx.He grew up in Port Arthur and was a resident of Austin, Tx most of his life. He attended Lamar University and worked for St. David’s Hospital in Austin, Tx. most of his career.
He retired in 2010. For a short time, he lived in Montgomery, Tx and was a member of the Lakeside Bible Church of Montgomery, Tx.
He loved watching his children attend college and especially enjoyed baseball. He was very proud of all his children and eager to help them achieve their goals and dreams. Mike Harmon 11/28/49 - 12/27/22

Mike died on Dec. 27, 2022 in Bellingham, WA where he resided. He was born on Nov. 28, 1949. He grew up in Port Arthur, TX and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, class of 1968. While in school, Mike played trumpet and enjoyed that for many years. After graduating as an engineer from Lamar University, he worked at DuPont in Orange for more than thirty years. He is survived by his wife, Susan Harmon, two sisters, Sheryl Mettling, Bradenton, FL and Vicki Ryan, Kingsland, TX, son, Dr. Phillip Harmon, Vestal NY and daughter, Sarah McDow, Orange, TX. Marilyn Harriman 9/2/49 - 7/29/15

65, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on September 2, 1949, to Norma Beeman Harriman and Mayland E. Harriman in New York, New York, and worked as a legal secretary for Brent Coon and Associates.
Survivors include her mother, Norma Harriman of Beaumont; sister, Jane Taylor and her husband, Jim; niece, Natalie Lockhart; and great-nephews, Adam Bothwell and James Bothwell, all of Vidor; half sister, Gene Williams and her husband, Eugene, of Princeton, and her children, Marilyn Anne Williams (niece) of Allen and Randal M. Williams (nephew) of Red Rock, Arizona. She is preceded in death by her father.
A gathering of Ms. Cribbs’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium.

Mona Hatch 8/23/50 - 3/12/12

61, of Orange, died Monday, March 12, 2012, at her home in Mauriceville. She was born August 23, 1950, to Bessie V. Hatch and Leon Melvin Hatch, in Beaumont, and was a lifelong resident of the area. Mona was employed with Nursefinders as a cardiac care nurse.
Survivors include her son, Timothy Raffield and his wife, Danielle of Katy; grandchildren, Colin Raffield, Caitlin Raffield, and Hope Raffield; twin sister, Mary Folsom and her husband, James of Vinton, Louisiana; nieces, Mary Griffin and Monica Elliott; great nephews, Joshua Hentrich, Casey Bingham, Jesse Bingham, Dylan Miller, and Benjamin Thomas Elliott; numerous other loving family members; her cat, Madison; and her dog, CoCo.
Mona is preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and Richard Hatch; and daughter, Jenna Raffield. A gathering of her family and friends will begin 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2012, at Broussard’s Crematorium, 5150 Stivers Drive, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont.

Sharon Marie Hebert 1/10/50 - 4/12/18

68, of Nederland, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and friends on Thursday, April 12, 2018 after a three year battle with cancer. Sharon was born on January 10, 1950 in Jennings, LA to Youell and Mary Hebert. Sharon was a loved and highly dedicated sales associate at Dillard’s at Central Mall in Port Arthur, Texas for the past nine years.
Survivors include her daughter, Charise Sorensen, her husband, Mark, of Nederland, Texas. Two sons, Jeremie Altman, his wife, Yayoi, of Provo, Utah and Jason Altman of Houston, Texas. Sisters, Karen Bynum and her husband, Don of Nederland, Texas and Lauren Edgar and her husband, Chad, of Groves, Sheryl Coble and her husband, Ray of Cedar Park, Texas and Step- mother, Ruth Hebert of Cedar Park, Texas. Sharon was blessed with six grand children and three great-grand children. Sharon was proceeded in death by her parents Youell and Mary Hebert and her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Montgomery.
A visitation of Mrs. Montgomery’s family and friends will be from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 14, 2018 and the services following at 3:00 PM at Faith Baptist Temple, 1011 Bowlin Avenue in Port Neches, Texas.

He is survived by 4 brothers:
Glenn, Royce, Robert and Tim; 2 sisters: Janice Chance and Annie Cavalli. He was greatly loved by many nieces and nephews who lovingly called him "Uncle Paw Paw John".
John served honorably with the U.S. Navy, and was an ordained minister with Bible Tabernacle Corp.. John faithfully attended Lakewood Church until his health failed.

53, of Groves died Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at Christus St. Mary Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Port Arthur , he was the president of Howard's Food Store in Port Arthur for 30 years.
He was a U.S. National Guard veteran.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Donahugh officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park .
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born May 13, 1949 to Jean Peters Hollier and Ivan Earl Hollier in Port Arthur, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of the Port Arthur area. Ronnie graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968. He served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War era. Ronnie retired from Chevron after 26 years of service. He was affiliated with St. James Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Monday, November 1, 2010 from Noon to 3 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 3 P.M. Monday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Msgr. Dan Malain, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Earl Hollier and his brother, Donald “Donnie” Hollier. He is survived by his mother, Jean Hollier of Port Neches, his daughters, Lori Ortiz and husband Thomas of Nederland, Jennifer Cardenas and husband Jay of Nederland, Brittany Hollier of Dallas, his sons, Ronald L. “Ronnie” Hollier, Jr. and wife Latorshia of Port Neches and Ryan Hollier of Vidor along with seven grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother, Bobby Hollier of Orange, Texas along with numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Sondra Holstead 12/31/49 - 02/16/19

age 69, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Saturday March 16, 2019. Sondra was born December 31, 1949. Sondra, a native and life long resident of Port Arthur was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God and a faithful member of the 700 Club.
Sondra was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Edwin Holstead and her daughter Karen Provencher.
Survivors include her husband Daniel Provencher; two daughters, Tracy Provencher and Cheryl Provencher, both of Port Arthur and her brother, Edwin Holstead of San Antonio. Sondra, also, leaves behind seven grandchildren, Jasmine Rider, Anthony Rider, Karen, Keshawn, Jaidan, Korben, and Daniel Provencher-Toson. A visitation for Sondra will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 2:00 PM.

Marla Kay Holt 5/13/49 - 10/27/10

passed away on November 18, 2015, following a long battle with cancer and chronic illness.
She is survived by her spouse, Keith Aronson, sister and brother-in-law, Elisa and Greg Pesta, and two children, Michelle Kimbrough and Eric Meehan, and their spouses, Matt Kimbrough and Candace Ripperda Meehan. She had two beloved grand-daughters by her son and daughter-in-law, Aubrey and Amalie Meehan. Marla was preceded in death by her mother, Anita Holt. Marla was born in Port Arthur, Texas on November 25, 1949.
She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School with honors and subsequently attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. She earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mathematics from Lamar and, in later years, equations from her master’s thesis were used by NASA to further their work on the space program.
Marla was a devoted mother, dedicated teacher, and compassionate friend. She worked for almost 40 years in educating young minds as a math instructor. She felt most at home in her work for the Windfern High School of Choice in the Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District, where she finished her tenure as a teacher in December of 2014. Marla was called to that work with high school students in an alternative setting. She said that she endeavored to make every student feel special, cared for, and worth a good education and solid future. At Windfern, she helped numerous young adults and teens to obtain their high school diplomas and GEDs. This work earned her the award of Teacher of the Year at Windfern a few years prior to her retirement.
Marla also devoted her life to her family. She worked two jobs for many years to allow her own children to obtain advanced college educations and cheered them on at football games and band concerts, among many other activities. Her grand-daughters were the honor and light of her life. Her pride and love for them shown to all of those who knew her. Marla also loved her co-workers at Windfern and her church group at the Cypress United Methodist Church.
Her humor at dinner parties, restaurant gatherings, and other events inspired and entertained all of those she loved.
On January 29, 2011, Marla married Keith, her adoring husband and beloved partner. She commented that he was her true reward. Although they only experienced approximately 5 years of happiness, they loved each other a great deal and were very happy together.
Marla will be missed tremendously by her friends and family. It is hoped that they take comfort in her strong belief in the power and goodness of Jesus Christ, and a benevolent God. She would want everyone to know that she is at peace and waiting for the day when she will see them again.
Services for Marla Meehan-Aronson will be held in the sanctuary of the Cypress United Methodist Church on Friday, December 4, 2015. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Marla’s name to the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org/index.

71, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Friday, February 26, 2021 at Oak Grove Nursing Home.
She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on February 3, 1950 to James Holtzclaw and Hazel Rebert Holtzclaw.
Gail was a lifelong area resident and 1968 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School.
Gail is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ronnie Terry of Port Arthur, TX, sons, Craig Terry of Port Arthur, TX., and Joel Terry and wife Sylvia of Hamshire, TX., sisters, Charlotte Maginnis and husband Pat of Tampa, FL., Judy Jones and husband David of Florida, and Jamie Tyler and husband Jeff of Tyler, TX., brothers, Rob Holtzclaw and wife Lorraine of Alabama, and Ty Holtzclaw of Tampa, Fl., sister in law, Margaret Taylor of Lake Charles, LA., and six grandchildren, Tessa Jacks, Chloe Terry, Abbigail Terry, Landen Terry, Brooks Terry and Chase Jacks, nephew, Jay Romero and special friends, Kenneth Boudreaux and wife Bobbie.

Kenneth Lee Howard 11/20/49 - 8/28/19

age 69, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. Kenneth was born on November 20, 1949. Kenneth proudly served in the US Navy. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by parents, Lovelle and Reba Howard, brother, Robert "Bob" Howard, and a sister, Betty Jo Bartlett. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Patsy Moses Howard; and a host of nieces of nephews. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2019 at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Rev. Ronnie Estes will officiate. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery, 249 HOPEWELL CHURCH RD, DeRidder, LA.

Arthur Eugene Hufstetler 10/18/50 - 8/27/10

59 of Groves, Texas, died on August 27,2010, at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur.
He was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Rosemary and 0tis Hufsteter. He was a resident of Groves, Texas for 38 years with his wife Vicky. Arthur was a remarkable man. He was a 1968 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. He began work as a machinist with the Kansas City Southern Railroad upon graduation, where his grandfather, father and brother worked. He knew that where his family was, his job would also be.
He was drafted into the Vietnam War in 1968 as a member of the United States Army. He received a bronze star for his courageous efforts over seas. He was honorably discharged from the Army when he completed his service in October 1971. He came home to marry his wife, Vicky, for now of 39 years in June 1971. They were soul mates from the beginning and forever will be. Arthur and Vicky together had two daughters, Alicia and Dana, that they loved more than their own lives. Arthur was actively involved in his children's lives. He was a member of the Port Neches-Groves Band Action Committee for many years. His love was building headdresses and selling them for the band and PTA and attending Friday night football games. Even after his daughters graduated high school, he still continued to to be actively involved in the high school band, PTA, and Friday night football games, as well as his daughters' college and professional careers. He never met a stranger, and his charismatic personality will be missed. He worked diligently for the Kansas City Southern Railroad for 42 years, where he was only a mere five weeks from retiring. In his time at the Kansas City Southern Railroad, he was commended for his safety through many awards. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Nederland and served on the Board of Directors for Kansas City Southern Railroad Credit Union. He was a hardworking, loving, husband, father, and friend. He will be truly missed. Survivors include his wife, Vicky Hufstetler of Groves, Texas; two daughters and son in laws, Alicia Hufstetler and Damon Young of Port Neches and Dana and Seth Franke of Nederland; one brother and sister in law, James and Pat Hufstetler of Orange; two sisters and brother in laws, Judy and Johnny Watkins and Dorothy and John Jannise; many nieces and nephews; Sonny and Patty Wadenpfuhl along with many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Qtis and Rosemary Hufstetler.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas on October 9, 1949, he was the son of James Paul Hutchins and Marjorie Gambrell Hutchins. Randy was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a machinist at Texaco Refinery for seventeen years, but retired from Houston Grinding Manufacturing after thirty-five years of service. Randy was also a member of the United States Air Force. He loved hunting and fishing and numerous other outdoor activities. He was also a mechanic and a true master at fixing anything.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James ‘Jim’ Hutchins, and his sister-in-law, Donna Gail Berry.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Debbie Hutchins of Port Neches, Texas; his sons, Aaron Hutchins and his wife Jennifer of Cypress, Texas, and Caleb Hutchins and partner Ricky Adams of Port Neches, Texas; and two grandchildren, Jacob Hutchins and Addison Hutchins.

Charles David James 7/22/1950 - 9/8/09

"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" John 11:25-26. Charles "David" James believed what Christ said and went to live with Him for eternity on September 8, 2009.
David was born on July 22, 1950 and lived most of his life in the Port Arthur, Texas area, and the last nine years in Fannett, Texas. He was married to Susie, the one and only love of his life, for 38 years. David was the proud and adored father of two sons and their wives, David and Kelly James of Beaumont, Texas and Jeremy and Krista James of Leander, Texas.
He was the cherished grandfather of Kate, Alex, and Anthony.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Earl and Frankie Davis of Port Arthur, Texas. David was predeceased by his father and stepmother, Charles and Margaret James of Fort Worth, Texas. He is also survived by siblings Glen James of Roanoke, Texas and Ronald James and JeNean Davis of Port Arthur, Texas. In addition to his family, David cherished his coworkers and the friends that he made in the course of his 40 years in the motorcycle business.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Levingston Funeral Home, Groves, Texas. Funeral services celebrating David's life will be held in the Levingston Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 10 a.m. with internment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the countless friends who have provided support and prayer throughout David's life and during his last illness.

Catherine Elizabeth Jones 11/19/49 - 05/21/19

69, died on May 21, 2019, after a courageous battle with breast cancer and its complications. Her life was filled with love, adventure, and compassion and she will deeply be missed by her friends and family.
Cathy was born to the late William P. and Donna Jones on November 19, 1949 in Port Arthur, Texas. She grew up surrounded by family and could often be found playing outdoors with her brother, Billy Jones and cousins, Elizabeth and Robert Jones who lived next door. Cathy graduated in 1968 from Thomas Jefferson High School.
Cathy went on to Lamar University where she graduated with a degree in Math and History in 1972. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority where she made many lasting friendships. Her best friend and sorority sister, Joye Jefferson Roll, introduced Cathy to David Kasper, the love of her life. Catherine married David on July 2, 1972 surrounded by friends and family in Port Arthur, Texas. David and Cathy’s life was filled with 46 years of love, travel and a lot of joy. Their first daughter, Holly Crystal, was born on September 2, 1976 and Kimberly Ann was born on December 17, 1978. Shortly thereafter, Catherine began a career with MD Anderson Cancer Center as a dosimetrist. She worked for 30 years studying the effects of cancer treatment and radiation.
Cathy raised beautiful daughters whose childhood years were filled with softball games, ski trips, girl scout meetings, dance shows and holiday celebrations which Cathy loved to host. Many of friends and family members have enjoyed Christmas celebrations at the Kasper’s home where she worked hard to ensure the house was perfectly decorated and filled with holiday food. Cathy was blessed to watch her two daughters grow up and marry. Kim married Christopher Evans on June 8, 2002 and Holly married Matthew Blank on September 4, 2004. Cathy was blessed with five beautiful grandchildren; Ava, Brody, Kasper, Cowen and Remi.
Cathy spent the last 12 years of her life retired, living at the beach in Port Boliver, Texas. It is here that she made many new friends and hosted many family weekends at the beach. Cathy was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. She was able to recover and enjoy many more years with her family. The cancer returned in 2017 and again this spring and she eventually succumbed to the complications of this horrible disease.
There is not a friend, family member or coworker of Cathy’s who doesn’t speak of her kindness and patience. Cathy lived a life of dedication to her husband and family. Almost anyone she met became her friend. She loved to travel, host holidays and love on her beautiful grandchildren. Her legacy will live on through her husband, daughters, grandchildren, extended family and friends.

68, died Friday, July 13, 2018, in a local hospital.
He was a native of Port Arthur, Texas and had been a resident of the Sulphur-Lake Charles area for the last 50 years. Wayne was a member of Maplewood First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jean LaGrappe of Sulphur; his daughters, Kristie Hunnicutt and husband, Brice of Longview, Texas and Kodie Manning and husband, Dr. Bryan Manning of Sulphur; his brother, Bryan LaGrappe and wife, Jewell of Dickinson, Texas; his sister, Andrea Phillips and husband, Barney of Sealey, Texas; his niece, Laura Phillips; and his grandchildren, Craig and Erin Hunnicutt, and Stone, Henry, and Crane Manning.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, July 16, in Maplewood First Baptist Church. Dr. Jeremy Blocker and Dr. Ronnie Burke will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service Monday in the church. Dwight Eric Larson 6/20/50 - 10/23/13

Dwight was born June 20, 1950, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Leonard Carl Larson and Lou Ella (Speckman) Larson.
Dwight attended Wm. B. Travis Elementary school and earned a diploma from Thomas Jefferson High School. He then attended Lon Morris College, graduating with a diploma and transferred to Sam Houston University Huntsville, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Furthering his education, he entered Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and graduated with a Business Administration degree.
After being employed for several years as a photographer for Port Arthur News, Dwight was employed as postmaster of the Chiresman United Post Office. Dwight was a member of the Chriesman United Methodist Church and was treasurer of the church for a number of years.
He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Larson and one sister, Pamela Dunklin.
He is survived by his mother, Lou Ella Larson; brother and sister-in-law, Lenny and Jo Ann Larson; brother-in-law, Gerald Dunklin a very dear friend, Bessie Royall; and aunt, Billie Moeller of New Braunfels; and many loving nieces and nephews and friends.
Dwight was always ready with a big smile to help someone in need and he had a great love for the outdoors. He loved his cows, horses, donkeys, little ponies, cats, dogs, chickens, turkeys, and two talking parrots.

Layne was born to Edward J. Lauve and Lottie A. Lauve on August 23, 1950 in Port Arthur, TX. He retired as a carpenter. Layne had a great love for his dogs.

born on Thursday, October 27, 1949 in Hereford, TX and passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 in Alexandria, LA. Hortence Townsend also known as Mrs. Shorty was born and raised in Port Arthur Texas, where she met her loving husband James Townsend Sr. After a few years living in Texas the two moved to Louisiana and started a small family. That small family became a very large and loving family. She loved all of her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very much. She and her husband attended Rosin Creek Pentecostal Church , where she taught Sunday school. Those children , who are now adults meant the world to her. Mrs. Shorty worked at Catahoula Council on Aging for over 20 years. She made a huge impact on her small community. She loved and cared for her elderly people and she always made sure that everyone had more than what they needed. Anyone who knew her knew she wasn’t very big but her heart made up for it in size. She will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Lee Lozano, Sr. and Lydia Mesaise Lozano; brother, Oscar Lee Lozano, Jr.; two sisters, Sara Landry and Delores Lozano; two brothers, Michael Lozano and Johnny Lozano; and step-daughter, Becky Wilson.

He is survived by his parents, Julia Cayou, Eloy Montalvo Sr., and stepmother, Evonna M. Montalvo; sisters, Sandra Atchison, Corinne Chesley; brothers, Richard Montalvo, Marcel Montalvo, Bill Montalvo, and Ty Montalvo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by nephew, Richard Atchison.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, 2 p.m. at Memorial Estates Mortuary (5850 S. 900 East) in Murray. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services Sunday. 55, of Nederland, died Monday, May 3, 2004, at his mother's home in Austin after a long battle with cancer. Ralph was a native and lifelong resident of the Nederland and Port Arthur area. He was employed as an operator for Premcor in Port Arthur with 32 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Arthur and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Port Neches. Besides the love he had for his family and friends, his next passion was hunting and fishing.
Ralph was preceded in death by his father, William "Billy" Moore; and brother, William "Billy" R. Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Jensenius Moore of Nederland; mother, Ella Moore of Austin, one son, Billy M. Moore and wife Niki of Austin; three daughters, Kacey Moore of Austin, Kelli Moore of Houston, and Sunni Moore of Nederland; one brother, Glenn Moore and wife Teri of Georgetown.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Lecia Locke Mouille; children, James Mouille, and Chris Mouille and wife Nicole; grandchildren, Brock, Brody, and Mia Mouille; and brother, Darrell Mouille. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles, and close family members.

Robert Earl Mullin 11/20/49 - 9/8/08

from his sister Sheri Robert Earl Mullin, or Bob as he was known by all who met him, was born November 20, 1949 in Bryan, Texas. His father and mother, Earl and Marie were living in College Station at the time while Earl completed his college degree at Texas A & M. He left this earth on September 8, 2008 to join his father and mother who predeceased him.
Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Michele, who brought so much happiness and peace into his life, his sister, Sheri Ainsworth, his niece Kara Barry, husband, Chris and their daughter Kaitlyn. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Kelly Euson, husband, Martin, and daughter Brooke. Michele’s extended family became Bob’s family-her mother Fern, her brother Todd and his wife Tina, her aunt Linda and many others. His animal children included his favorite “Buddy”, “Rambo”, “Joey”, and “Chrissy”. They were preceeded by many others who were dropped off, wandered up or were handpicked by Bob and Michele.
Bob grew up in Port Arthur, TX and had many passions and collections; cars, Harleys, stray dogs, friends and life. He loved his first job, in a meat market at the neighborhood store. In one of his first cars, a 1940 Tomato Red Ford Coupe, a budding romance ended when his date accidentally threw a coke bottle through what she thought was an open window. Bob graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont. He moved to Houston many years ago to work at Exxon. Bob found his true calling in sales. He co-owned several door companies. He lived his life without regrets and always felt he had a wonderful one; he had it all! He was “good to go”. Bob and Michele had recently watched ‘The Bucket List”; at it’s conclusion, Bob announced he had No Bucket List, nothing that he didn’t have, nothing he hadn’t done. Bob was a big man with a big heart; there was never a friend with a need he didn’t try to fill. He was the one you could always count on, the one who was always there to listen. There was always room at Bob and Michele’s home for one more stray; maybe not the friendliest or prettiest dog, cat or horse, but you knew that that animal lived the rest of his days feeling special and loved at their home. Bob never had children of his own, yet he coached his stepsons and was so proud of the men they became. He hauled Kara to the arena for nights on end to learn how to ride, and he always made sure she had the “best horse, saddle, leg wrappings, etc“…oh, and the best manners----he once took a plate of food away from her after showing her several times how to hold a fork. “I don’t want you to come home crying from your first dinner date,” he explained. More recently, he had many special times with Brooke on the golf cart, at the pond, watching her rodeo events and riding in the pasture. Brooke and Kaitlyn amused Bob and others as they “performed” Taylor Swift’s song “You Should Have Said No” over and over and over.

Alexander "Big Al" Naville 10/18/49 - 5/5/18

68, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on May 5, 2018 at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont surrounded by family. Alexander was born October 18, 1949 in Port Arthur, Texas. Alexander was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, class of 1968. He was a faithful employee of Motiva Enterprise for 49 years. Alexander is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Phyllis Neville, his sister Bobbie Phillips and brother, Felton Neville.
Alexander is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Linda, son Jarrod Thompson, daughters Dana (Ardel) and Danielle. Two special granddaughters Danasha and Jada Chatman, sister Marva Holmes, brother Earl Neville (Roxanne) and special friends Roosevelt Campbell and Rayfield Collins and a host of other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 12, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Christian Faith Baptist Church 1919 Jefferson Drive. Visitation will be from noon until start of service. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.

Douglas Riley Norwood 6/10/50 - 9/24/11

61, of Orange, Texas passed away on Saturday September 24, 2011. A lifelong resident of the area, Douglas was born in Port Arthur, Texas on June 10, 1950. He was the son of the late Doris Duplantis Norwood and the late W.R. Norwood. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968. Douglas worked as a Draftsman and Senior Stress Analyst for Matrix Engineering and CB& I for 30 years and Richard Design Services for the last six months, where he made many wonderful friends over the years.
Doug loved nothing more than mornings spent fishing with a friend in his prized Ranger boat or taking his grandbabies for a boat ride on Lake Sam Rayburn. He also spent many afternoons singing Willie Nelson songs on one of his favorite guitars. He was a kind and generous man who was well-loved by friends and family. His death has left a large void in the lives of his many friends and his devoted family including his several “adopted” children. He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years Karen Norwood; his daughter Stacey Vickers and her husband Matthew of Dickinson, Texas; his son Kevin Norwood and significant other, Deedra Mann of Houston, Texas; his son Keith Norwood and his wife Lindsey of Mauriceville, Texas; his sister Christie McNeill and her husband Charles of Nederland, Texas; his brother Roland Norwood and his wife Connie of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and his five beloved grandchildren, Chloe, Emma, Parker, Case and Cole as well as his nieces and nephews.
A vigil will be held on Monday evening from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with interment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Groves.

Kenneth Keith Odneal 11/1/49 - 8/29/11

Edwin "Skeet" Osborn 9/2/49 - 10/10/71

Killed As Auto Rams Into Train.
Funeral services were to be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday in the Nunnelly-Stanley Chapel for Edwin H. Osborn, Jr, 22 year old Vietnam veteran who was killed in a car-train collision early Sunday, October 10, 1971. He had served with the Marine corps. Mr. Osborn was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Mary's hospital at 12:35 a.m. Sunday after his car struck the fourth car of a train on the Kansas City Southern tracks at 32nd Street and Lombardy Drive.
An inquest conducted by Jimmie Weldon, justice of the peace, revealed death was instantaneous due to a broken neck received in the accident. A Levingston ambulance carried the accident victim to the hospital. Osborn was alone in the car. The vehicle, which was demolished, was dragged about 100 yards down the track after striking the fourth car behind the engine.
A lifelong resident of Port Arthur , Osborn was a shipfitter for Gulfport shipyard and a member of Trinity Baptist church. Surviving are his father, Edwin H. Osborn, Sr.; a brother, Terry L. Osborn; grandparents, Mrs. Maurine Hoffpauir and Mrs. Hazel Osborn, and Jack Hoffpauir. The Rev. Herman Knight, pastor of Memorial Baptist church was to officiate, assisted by the Rev. Robert L. Holt, pastor of the First Baptist church of Bridge City. Pallbearers are to be Fred Hollier, Jr., Robert Orena, Bobby Orta, Chip Osborn, David Weldon, and Bryan Young.

Leon Oville 4/2/50 - 2/22/73

22, of Port Arthur , died at 2:20 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 1973, after a long illness. He was dead on arrival at St. Mary's Hospital. Mr. Oville was a life-long resident of Port Arthur and a member of the East Mt. Olive Baptist Church . He attended Thomas Jefferson and Lincoln high schools. He was a US Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam conflict.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at East Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. L. B. Wade, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Moody-Harris Funeral Home. Remains will be at the church from 7 p.m. Sunday until time for services. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Oville, Sr.; four brothers, Oather, Elliot, Tony, and Carl Wayne Oville; one sister Leola Oville; grandfather, Rev. O. T. Trainer.
