WEATHER EVENTS
What is going on with all these crazy happenings? We have had so much flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes, and even wildfires that sadly aren’t always started by lightning. If you have been affected by any of these, tell me your story no matter how short or long.

NEWS FROM THE HOMEFRONT
Murphy turned 75 in June. I invited several friends & family to Tequilas Restaurant on Gulfway Dr. for this occasion. Tequilas is in the same building as Pizza Inn was in our day. I decided to have his sheet cake decorated with COWBOYS & INDIANS that I ordered on Amazon. He is constantly watching Westerns on tv. The cake turned out so cute. He knew about the get together but didn’t know who I invited. One of his surprise guests was Johnny “Pookie” Montagne. They grew up together on 8th Ave. in Pear Ridge. Boy, the stories Murphy tells me about how much trouble they would get into. Pookie and his family live in Bridge City. We celebrated a low key 51st wedding anniversary by going to eat at Pat’s of Henderson in Lake Charles. YUMMY! We haven’t been on any road trips in a long time, but we did take a short one to visit the granddaughters at A&M this summer. We brought them their favorite queso from Elena’s in Beaumont and their favorite gumbo from Bayou Café in Beaumont. We sat around and watched Disney movies for the day. Very relaxing. Murphy and I have really been enjoying the OLYMPICS. We tape all of the shows every day and enjoy watching some of every sport possible. My favorite has been BADMITTON. I also love the DRESSAGE event with the gorgeous horses. We both also like volleyball. We have seen some strange events, but we are spending our time picking our favorite countries to cheer for or against in each one. Our great nephew signed with SVD Beaumont (semi pro soccer) recently. We have followed him since he was little playing this sport. We look forward to seeing him pursue his passion. He starts Lamar this fall. My brother’s grandson (our great nephew) just entered his novitiate year as a DOMINICAN BROTHER. His name will be Br. Matthias. His seminary is on the campus of the University of Dallas. We are so proud of him. I looked at my calendar during the last two+ months since the last newsletter to see what we have been up to. Writing it down doesn’t seem like much, but the calendar seems to be filled with appointments and community events we are involved with in our Woodmen Life fraternal organization. I also go to check on my golden retriever grand dog, Remi every day. Two or three times a week I go in their pool and do shoulder rehab exercises while Remi plays fetch in the pool. She also likes to float around. The portable building, I mentioned in the last newsletter is finished and filled up with boxes of decorations. I even had room for Murphy to fill up the loft with some of his stuff. The best thing about my “she shed” is that we no longer have to go up in the attic. At our age, ladder is a curse word.

MINI REUNION
At the moment, we don’t have anything planned, but maybe when the temperature starts getting tolerable, we could work on one. It is not easy to find a restaurant that has a large section that they can use for sitting 50+ people. We will let you know. We know high school sports will be starting up soon, but we usually have our luncheons on Saturdays.
